Cucumber Varieties

Cucumbers come in many different varieties, often named after the geographic location in which the variety is most popular. Probably the most easy to recognize type of cucumber is the English or "Burpless" variety. The term burp less refers to the fact that these varieties has small seeds and a thinner skin which in some other cucumber types can cause gas in those that ingest the seeds and skin. Other popular varieties of cucumbers include Mediterranean, Dosakai, Persian, and Asian cucumbers among others. In addition to the different varieties, there are many types of hybrid cucumbers that can be potted, are disease resistant, or produce specialized fruits.
